Day Three Brighton on the seashore

Having spent the past two days exploring castles, we decided today to head for the seashore. The trip from Hever Castle (where we are staying) to Brighton was not without it's share of U turns and Heart Stopping moments. But we were able to finally get to this most interesting seaside city. Brighton is a very large city which has been a playground for Londoners for the past 200 years. Brighton Pier opened in 1899 is an amusement park above the sea. It has carnival rides, game arcades, restaurants and a beautiful view of the beaches of Brighton and the English Channel. Although Brighton is noted for it's beaches which are long and massive but have NO SAND. The beach is covered with fine stones and pebbles. We think that Brighton must have more hotel rooms/condos than even Orlando. We had a most enjoyable lunch of Fish and Chips at a seaside cafe overlooking the beach. After lunch we drove along the seashore about 30 miles to the East and to the West before heading back to our hotel. The trip back was again challenging. The English drive very fast, the roads are very narrow and the road signs are difficult to read. The weather today was beautiful....Blue Skies and Warm (high 70's).
